Background: Given the growing trend of HIV in the world and the key role of women in preventing this disease, this study aimed to determine the effect of education based on the BASNEF model on women's knowledge, attitudes, abstract norms, enabling factors, and behavioral intentions in the field of HIV prevention.
Methods: This study was a field trial study with a pre-test and post-test design that was conducted on women referring to comprehensive health service centers in Isfahan. Participants were randomly divided into two intervention groups (receiving education based on the BASNEF model) and control. Data were collected using standard questionnaires before, immediately after, and three months after the intervention and analyzed using ANOVA with repeated observations and follow-up tests.
Findings: The results showed that the educational intervention resulted in a significant increase in awareness (P<0.05), improved attitude (P<0.05), strengthened abstract norms (P<0.05), and increased behavioral intention (P<0.05) in the intervention group compared to the control group. Also, enabling factors improved immediately after the intervention.
Conclusion: BASNEF model-based education was identified as an effective strategy for promoting AIDS prevention behaviors in women. These findings emphasize the importance of designing structured educational programs focusing on individual and social factors.
