In this study, the effect of spinal implants on dose distribution was evaluated by Monte Carlo simulation.Methods: Oncor accelerator and water phantom, Plexiglas phantom containing spine and Plexiglas phantom containing spine and rod implants were simulated using BEAMnrc and DOSXYZnrc user codes and were validated. The effect of the implant presence, its size material, and location on dose distribution was investigated.Findings: Comparison of dose distributions with and without implants showed an increase of 5.5% in dose up to 4 mm from metal surface, due to the back scattering of electrons. Maximum attenuation in titanium rods was 9%. When the rods were positioned closer to each other, an increase in attenuation was observed. However, dose in spine was increased, when the distance between rods and spine was reduced. Rods with smaller cross section had less effect on dose. Attenuation in vitallium and stainless steel implants were 2 times greater than titanium implants.Conclusion: Depending on the location of implant with respect to spine, dose perturbation due to implants can either increase or decrease the dose in spine. The effect of size and material of implant was more important when spine was located under the implant. Generally, the effect of spinal implant on dose distribution is a function of size, material and position of the implant. Therefore, it is recommended to evaluate the dose distribution for such patients individually.}, keywords = {Spinal implants,Spinal radiation therapy,Dose distribution,Monte Carlo simulation}, title_fa = {بررسی تأثیر مشخصات فیزیکی ایمپلانت‌های ستون مهره‌ای بر توزیع دوز نخاع}, abstract_fa = {مقدمه: در پرتودرمانی، حضور ایمپلانت‌های فلزی بر توزیع دوز تأثیر می‌گذارد. این اثر، علاوه بر انرژی پرتو به نوع، اندازه، جنس و موقعیت قرارگیری ایمپلانت بستگی دارد. در این تحقیق، تأثیر ایمپلانت‌های ستون مهره‌ای بر توزیع دوز در نخاع، توسط شبیه‌سازی Monte Carlo بررسی شد.روش‌ها: شتاب دهنده‌ی انکور، فانتوم آب، فانتوم پلکسی‌گلاس حاوی ستون مهره‌ای و فانتوم پلکسی‌گلاس حاوی ستون مهره‌ای و ایمپلانت‌های میله‌ای توسط کد‌های کاربر BEAMnrc و DOSXYZnrc شبیه‌سازی و اعتبارسنجی شد. اثر حضور ایمپلانت‌ها و تغییر اندازه، جنس و موقعیت ایمپلانت‌ها بر توزیع دوز بررسی شد.یافته‌ها: مقایسه توزیع دوز با و بدون ایمپلانت، نشان دهنده‌ی افزایش دوز ناشی از الکترون‌های برگشتی از سطح فلز تا 5/5 درصد و تا فاصله‌ی mm 4 از سطح فلز بود. بیشترین تضعیف، ناشی از فلز تایتانیوم 9 درصد بود. با کاهش فاصله‌ی بین میله‌ها، افزایش اثر تضعیف و با کاهش فاصله‌ی میله‌ها از نخاع، افزایش دوز در نخاع مشاهده شد. کاهش قطر میله‌ها سبب کاهش تغییرات دوز شد. تغییر جنس ایمپلانت‌ها از تایتانیوم به ویتالیوم و استیل، تضعیف را به میزان 2 برابر افزایش داد.نتیجه‌گیری: آشفتگی دوز ناشی از ایمپلانت، در نخاع قرار گرفته در سایه‌ی فلز به صورت کاهش و در نخاع قرار گرفته بین دو میله، به صورت هم‌افزایش و هم‌کاهش بود. اثر اندازه‌ی ایمپلانت با بزرگ شدن قطر آن و اثر جنس، زمانی که نخاع در سایه‌ی ایمپلانت واقع شود، اهمیت بیشتری می‌یابد. به طور کلی، تأثیر ایمپلانت بر توزیع دوز نخاع، تابعی از اندازه، جنس و موقعیت قرارگیری ایمپلانت است. بنابراین بررسی توزیع دوز برای این بیماران توصیه می‌شود.}, keywords_fa = {ایمپلانت‌های ستون مهره‌ای,پرتودرمانی متاستاز مهره‌ها,توزیع دوز,شبیه‌سازی Monte Carlo}, url = {https://jims.mui.ac.ir/article_14200.html}, eprint = {https://jims.mui.ac.ir/article_14200_8a03f41c0d22d2c166ac12f3e619cac4.pdf} }
