This study was designed to assess the effects of lead on cardiac function in terms of echocardiographic indices among battery factory workers who are in constant exposure to lead.Methods: In a cross-sectional study, 142 male battery factory workers who had been exposed to lead for at least 1 year were evaluated. The subjects aged 25-55 years and were excluded if they had hypertension, diabetes, or cardiovascular diseases. Demographic characteristics, professional profile, lead exposure, history of respiratory diseases, drugs intake, height, weight and blood pressure and lifestyle information of the participants were recorded. Blood lead levels were measured through blood tests. M-mode and doppler echocardiography was finally performed over each subject. Linear regression analysis was used to analyze the data.Findings: The mean age of the subjects was 41.78 ± 13.58 years and the mean duration of lead exposure was 23.54 ± 14.44 years. The mean blood lead level was 7.59 ± 2.75 µg/dl. Left ventricular hypertrophy was detected in 12% of the participants. Blood lead levels were not significantly related with echocardiographic indices in the crude model or after adjustments for age alone or for age and other risk factors.Conclusion: Blood lead levels of our subjects were below standard values. Accordingly, no significant relation was found between left ventricular function indices and blood lead levels. However, lack of such relations could be caused by exclusion of individuals with hypertension or cardiovascular diseases. Structural modifications in battery factories following legislations in Iran might have been responsible for low blood lead levels among the subjects.}, keywords = {Occupational exposure,Lead,Left ventricular echocardiography}, title_fa = {تأثیر سطح سرب روی یافته‌های استاندارد اکوکاردیوگرافی بطنی}, abstract_fa = {مقدمه: آلودگی با سرب روی ارگان‌های بدن از جمله قلب اثر می‌گذارد. این مطالعه بر روی کارگران شاغل در کارخانه‌ی باتری‌سازی که در مواجهه با سرب بودند، جهت بررسی اثرات سرب روی اندکس‌های قلبی ایشان انجام شد.روش‌ها: در یک مطالعه‌ی مقطعی، 142 مرد کارگر کارخانه‌ی باتری‌سازی که حداقل یک سال در معرض سرب بودند، بررسی شدند. سن آن‌ها بین 55-25 سال بود و در صورت ابتلا به دیابت، فشار خون بالا و بیماری‌های قلبی- عروقی از مطالعه خارج می‌شدند. اطلاعات دموگرافیک و شغلی، مواجهه با سرب، سابقه‌‌ی بیماری تنفسی، مصرف دارو و اطلاعات سبک زندگی هر یک از شرکت کنندگان ثبت شد و سپس قد، وزن و فشار خون اندازه‌گیری شد. اندازه‌گیری سطح سرب سرم نیز انجام شد و در نهایت، افراد تحت اکوکاردیوگرافی داپلر و M-Mode قرار گرفتند. آنالیز رگرسیون خطی جهت بررسی اثرات سرب روی اندکس‌های قلبی به کار رفت. داده‌ها در نرم‌افزار SPSS وارد و تجزیه و تحلیل شدند.یافته‌ها: متوسط سن بیماران 58/13 ± 78/41 سال و متوسط مواجهه با سرب 44/14 ± 54/23 سال بود. متوسط سطح سرب خون µg/dl 75/2 ± 59/7 بود. هیپرتروفی بطن چپ در 12 درصد شرکت کنندگان مشاهده شد. سطح سرب خون با اندکس‌های اکوکاردیوگرافی پس از تنظیم برای سن و عوامل خطر دیگر ارتباط معنی‌داری نداشت.نتیجه‌گیری: سطح سرب شرکت کنندگان مطالعه‌ی حاضر، زیر مقادیر استاندارد بود. ارتباطی بین سطح سرب خون و اندکس‌های عملکرد بطن چپ دیده نشد که علت آن می‌تواند حذف افراد مبتلا به فشار خون بالا و مشکل قلبی- عروقی باشد. تغییرات ساختاری در کارخانجات باتری‌سازی به دنبال موارد قانونی در ایران، می‌تواند عامل سطح پایین سرب خون در شرکت کنندگان این مطالعه باشد.}, keywords_fa = {مواجهه‌ی شغلی‌,سرب,اکوکاردیوگرافی بطن چپ}, url = {https://jims.mui.ac.ir/article_14406.html}, eprint = {https://jims.mui.ac.ir/article_14406_8c38d9e6dcf6955c6611fe59c10aab4b.pdf} }
