The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of different doses of L-carnitine at different stages of pregnancy on the memory of two month old offsprings whose mothers consumed alcohol during pregnancy.Methods: For the purpose of this study, 55 pregnant female rats were randomly divided into 11 groups of 5, including control group, which received drinking water, and the ethanol group which received drinking water containing 10 % (w/v) ethanol. L-Carnitine treated group received L-carnitine in doses of 50, 100, or 150 mg/kg in addition to the ethanol, in the first 10 days or the second 10 days of pregnancy. For modeling the third trimester of pregnancy, doses of L-carnitine were gavaged to the rat neonates for 10 days. After two months of birth, the memories of offsprings were evaluated using Passive Avoidance Task (PAT) and Novel Object Recognition Test (ORT).Findings: Administration of L-carnitine significantly increased discrimination of the ORT index and the escape latency of entry to dark compartment in PAT by two month old offspring compared to the ethanol group. The mentioned indices were significantly increased at a dose of 150 mg/kg compared to the dose of 50 mg/kg throughout all pregnancy periods. These indices were significantly different when l-carnitine was administered in the second 10 days of pregnancy compared to any other periods.Conclusion: The administration of L-carnitine during pregnancy can prevent alcohol-induced memory impairment in rat offsprings. This effect was more significant at higher doses of L-carnitine. The best response was seen when L-carnitine was administered to mothers in the second 10 days of pregnancy.}, keywords = {Carnitine,Memory disorders,Ethanol,Pregnancy}, title_fa = {مقایسه‌ی اثر ال-کارنیتین در مراحل مختلف بارداری بر اختلال حافظه‌ی ناشی از مواجهه با الکل در فرزندان بالغ رت}, abstract_fa = {مقاله پژوهشیمقدمه: اثرات محافظت نورونی ال-کارنیتین در مقابله با ‌آسیب‌های ناشی از مواجهه جنینی با اتانول، به اثبات رسیده است. هدف از انجام این مطالعه، بررسی تأثیر دوزهای متفاوت ال-کارنیتین در دوره‌های مختلف بارداری رت بر حافظه‌ی فرزندان دو ماهه‌ای که مادران‌شان در دوران بارداری الکل مصرف کرده‌اند، می‌باشد.روش‌ها: 55 سر رت ماده باردار به شکل تصادفی در 11 گروه 5‌تایی دسته‌‌بندی شدند. گروه شاهد، آب آشامیدنی و گروه اتانول، آب آشامیدنی حاوی اتانول 10 درصد (w/v) دریافت کردند. گروه‌های تحت درمان با ال-کارنیتین، علاوه بر اتانول، دوزهای mg/kg 100، 150 یا 50 از ال-کارنیتین را در دهه‌ی اول یا دوم بارداری دریافت نمودند. برای شبیه‌سازی سه ماهه‌ی سوم، دوزهای ال-کارنیتین به مدت 10 روز به نوزادان رت‌ها گاواژ شد. در نهایت پس از دو ماه از تولد، حافظه‌ی فرزندان به روش‌های آزمون اجتنابی غیرفعال (Passive avoidance task) PAT و آزمون تشخیص شیء جدید (Novel object recognition test) ORT ارزیابی شد.یافته‌ها: تجویز ال-کارنیتین باعث افزایش معنی‌دار شاخص تمایز در ORT و زمان تأخیر در ورود به محفظه‌ی تاریک در PAT توسط فرزندان دو ماهه در مقایسه با گروه اتانول شد. دوز mg/kg150 آن نسبت به دوز mg/kg50 در تمام دوره‌ها، شاخص‌های ذکر شده را به صورت معنی‌دار افزایش داد. این شاخص‌ها زمانی که ال-کارنیتین در 10 روز دوم بارداری تجویز شدند نسب به بقیه‌ی دوره‌ها، اختلاف معنی‌دار داشت.نتیجه‌گیری: استفاده از ال-کارنیتین در دوران بارداری، توانست از اختلال حافظه ناشی از اتانول در فرزندان رت جلوگیری کند. این اثر با دوزهای بالاتر ال-کارنیتین بیشتر بود. بهترین پاسخ، زمانی دیده شد که ال-کارنیتین در 10 روز دوم بارداری به مادران تجویز گردید.}, keywords_fa = {کارنیتین,اختلالات حافظه,اتانول,بارداری}, url = {https://jims.mui.ac.ir/article_24267.html}, eprint = {https://jims.mui.ac.ir/article_24267_43333764e833917c2b556985b7747111.pdf} }
