Demographic, clinical and laboratory indicators of patients with cystic fibrosis in 2009-2010 referred to Imam Hossein Children's Hospital

Abstract

Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare demographic, clinical and paraclinical information in patients with cystic fibrosis for one year.Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed in Imam Hossein (AS) Children's Hospital for one year . 100 patients referred to Imam Hossein (AS) Children's Hospital in Isfahan who had cystic fibrosis were included in the study and all demographic, clinical and laboratory information of the patients were recorded.Results: 58% of these patients were boys (58 patients) and 42% were girls (42 patients). The mean age of patients was 102 months and in the age range of 15-5 years. In 85% of patients, the disease was diagnosed before the age of one year. 62% of patients in whom expiratory volume was measured with pressure per second showed mild involvement, 28% moderate involvement and 10% severe involvement. Conclusion: Considering the complex nature of cystic fibrosis and the need for constant monitoring of patients throughout life, demographic, clinical and laboratory analysis of patients and recording and standardization of necessary information according to the progress made can be an essential step to identify It provided better disease in Iran and as a result increased quality of life and life expectancy in patients.
