Background: The prevalence of lower urinary tract symptoms and their impacts on women’s quality of life vary among different populations. However, not all individuals with urological complaints seek medical advice. The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of lower urinary tract symptoms, and their degree of bother in among employee and student women in Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, Isfahan, Iran, as a sample of presumably healthy population of women.Methods: The study participants included 312 presumably healthy population of employee and student women in the Isfahan University of Medical Sciences. They completed a self-filled validated Persian version of the lower urinary tract symptoms questionnaire.Findings: 90.7% of the group reported some kinds of lower urinary tract symptoms. The most common symptom was urgency (35.6%) and then, stress urinary incontinence (9.8%). Nocturia once or more at night was reported in 39.2% of cases. The highest bother score was of urgency with mean of 2.21.Conclusion: In a presumably healthy population of relatively young women, the prevalence of lower urinary tract symptoms was high, but with relatively low bother score.
