[English]

Background: Recognizing the lack of questionnaires particularly measuring women's desire for cosmetic surgery in Iran, this study aimed to develop and validate a new instrument for that purpose. The investigation examined the questionnaire's validity, reliability, and underlying structure.
Methods: This study adopted a cross-sectional design and a multi-stage cluster sampling method to recruit 763 women from private cosmetic clinics in Isfahan, Iran. They completed a novel questionnaire designed to measure their intention towards cosmetic surgery. The questionnaire's validity and reliability were assessed using face, content, construct validity analyses, Cronbach's alpha, retest, and intra-cluster correlation coefficient.
Findings: Evaluations of face validity (Impact score = 3.08), content validity (CVR = 0.75 and CVI = 0.85), and construct validity supported the validity of the questionnaire. In addition, the high intra-cluster correlation coefficient (ICC = 0.95) confirmed its good reliability. Factor analysis further delineated the underlying structure, identifying three principal factors explaining 45.818% of the variance in cosmetic surgery intention.
Conclusion: This newly developed questionnaire offers a reliable and valid tool for measuring cosmetic surgery intention in Iranian women.
