میزان تأثیر لاتانوپراست در درمان آلوپسی آره‌آتای مژه‌ها و ابروها

چکیده

مقدمه: لاتانوپراست یک آنالوگ پروستاگلندینF2α  است که در درمان گلوکوم استفاده می‌شود. از جمله عوارض جانبی لاتانوپراست افزایش تعداد، ضخامت و پیگمانتاسیمون مژه‌ها گزارش شده است. هدف این مطالعه بررسی این مطلب بود که آیا کاربرد موضعی این دارو می‌تواند در درمان آلوپسی آره‌آتای مژه‌ها و ابروها مورد استفاده قرار گیرد یا خیر؟روش‌ها: در یک مطالعه‌ی تجربی 26 بیمار مبتلا به آلوپسی آره‌آتای متقارن مژه‌ها و ابروها، در یک نیمه‌ی صورت به مدت 4 ماه با لاتانوپراست موضعی تحت درمان قرار گرفتند و برای نیمه‌ی دیگر درمان دارویی انجام نشد.یافته‌ها: تنها در یک مورد از موارد درمان شده با لاتانوپراست افزایش جزیی رویش مجدد در نیمه‌ی تحت درمان دیده شد. ارتباط بین رویش مجدد مو و کاربرد لاتانوپراست با آزمون Fisher’s exact معنی‌دار نبود (1 = P).نتیجه‌گیری: بر اساس نتایج مطالعه‌ی ما لاتانوپراست موضعی هیچ تأثیری در درمان آلوپسی آره‌آتا ندارد. مطالعات بیشتر با حجم نمونه‌ی بالا، مدت زمان مطالعه‌ی طولانی‌تر و تمرکز دارویی بیشتر پیشنهاد می‌گردد.

Background: Latanoprost is an analogue of prostaglandin F2a which is used to treat glaucoma. Increases in eyelash number, thickness, and pigmentation have been reported as latanoprost side effects. The aim of this study was to evaluate if topical use of this drug can be used as a treatment of alopecia areata of eyebrows and eyelashes or not.Methods: In an experimental study, 26 patients with symmetrical eyelash and eyebrow alopecia areata were treated over 4 months. While one side of each patient's face was treated with topical latanoprost, the other side was left untreated. At the end of the treatment, the results were compared.Findings: Only one of the latanoprost-treated cases showed partial hair regrowth on the treated side. The relationship between hair regrowth and latanoprost application was not statistically significant (P = 1.0) according to Fisher's exact test.Conclusion: Based on our findings, topical latanoprost is not effective in the treatment of alopecia areata. More studies with larger sample size, longer duration, and higher concentration of medication are suggested.
