Background: Health is one of the most important aspects of health. In this study, our aim was to assess the relationship between job stress, job function and mental health in the staff of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences.
Methods: The present study is a correlational study that was conducted in 2019 on all educational, administrative and service staff of medical, pharmacy and health schools who are currently employed. GHQ questionnaire was used to measure mental health, Patterson job performance questionnaire was used to measure job performance and HSE questionnaire was used to measure job stress.
Results: In the present study, 296 volunteers including 178 men and 118 women participated. The average age of the participants was 40.11 ± 7.3 years. The results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between occupational stress and mental health and between occupational stress and occupational performance of employees of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences (P<0.0001).
Conclusion: According to the findings of this study, job stress can affect the job performance and mental health of employees. Based on this, the use of job stress reduction strategies by both managers for the sub-category and training for the employees themselves should be included in the work plan.
