Abstract

Background: The Quranic approach to sciences, while deepening ontological and epistemological understanding, opens up new horizons in addressing contemporary challenges. The aim of this study was to explain the necessity of an interdisciplinary approach based on Quranic teachings in medical education and research.
Methods: This qualitative study, employing an analytical-comparative approach, examines contemporary challenges in the health sector and explores the capacities of Quranic knowledge in promoting human health. Citing previous studies and existing evidence, the necessity of adopting an interdisciplinary approach in medical education and research is emphasized.
Findings: The findings indicate that the Holy Quran addresses various dimensions of health (physical, psychological, social), and Islamic studies courses possess the potential to be delivered with a health-centered approach. Furthermore, a lack of educational programs related to spiritual health is evident. Achieving a Quranic approach in the health field requires the creation of a novel paradigm in medical education and research through interdisciplinary collaboration between medical science specialists and religious scholars.
Conclusion: Given contemporary health challenges and the capacities within Qur'anic teachings, adopting an interdisciplinary approach in medical education and research is imperative. This approach deepens our understanding of health dimensions and offers innovative solutions for enhancing human well-being.
