Abstract
Background: Spiritual health, as a part of health, has significant effects on psychological and physical development. The aim of the present study was to predict the spiritual health of women referring to health centers based on optimism and mindfulness.
Methods: The present study is a cross-sectional correlational study with a descriptive-analytical approach. The statistical population of this study included women referring to health centers in Mahabad city, 162 of whom were selected using convenience sampling. To collect data, three optimism questionnaires by Nouri and Jan Bozori; the Bauer Mindfulness Scale; and the Polotzine and Ellison Spiritual Health Questionnaire were used. To analyse the data, SPSS-20 software, Pearson correlation and stepwise regression were used to test the hypotheses.
Findings: The findings showed that optimism and mindfulness have a significant relationship with the spiritual health level (p < 0.01). Also, the standard coefficients showed that mindfulness (Beta=0/25) and optimism (Beta=0/21) were the most effective variables for predicting women's spiritual health, respectively.
Conclusion: According to the results obtained, spiritual health can be predicted based on mindfulness and optimism, respectively, and training in mindfulness skills and ways of optimism is essential to increase women's spiritual health.
