Abstract
Methods: A descriptive study was conducted on 115 multiple trauma patients admitted to the intensive care unit in Isfahan Medical Sciences Hospitals in 2018-2019. Data collection was done using a questionnaire, demographic information of the patients including age, sex, weight, history of diseases and other necessary information of the patient was collected. To evaluate the condition of patients in ICU, two scoring systems, QSOFA and ASAPS, were used. In the descriptive part, the percentage (number) and mean (standard deviation) and in the analytical part, logistic regression modeling was used by removing the effect of possible confounders on the incidence of mortality.
Results: The results showed that the ASAPS scoring method has the necessary efficiency and validity to predict the mortality rate of patients hospitalized in the ICU with multiple traumas. Also, the QSOFA method was very accurate in predicting the death rate of patients.
Conclusion: The quick and simple QSOFA method and the efficient ASAPS method each have their own advantages and limitations.
