Examining the prevalence of Gram-negative and Gram-positive related infections in the intensive care units of Imam Khomeini Hospital in Ilam during the years 2022-2023

Abstract
Background: Nosocomial infections are infections that the patient gets during hospitalization, we decided to investigate the prevalence of Gram-negative and Gram-positive related infections in the intensive care units of Imam Khomeini Hospital
Methods: The current research is a cross-sectional, descriptive study. The required information was collected from the files of patients hospitalized in the intensive care units of Imam Khomeini Hospital in ilam for one year (from the beginning of June 2022 to the end of May 2023).
Findings: Out of 2001 patients hospitalized in intensive care units, 29.23% were in ICU, 44.52% in ICU2 and 26.23% in PICU. Among the above patients, 111 cases of positive laboratory cultures were recorded
Conclusion: The most type of pathogen in the intensive care unit was related to Gram-negative bacteria. The prevalence of Gram-negative bacteria was higher than Gram-positive bacteria in all age groups
