Abstract

Introduction: Root canal treatment success depends on proper canal access. This challenge is greater in molars due to complex anatomy, and pulp stones may complicate the process.
Objective: To evaluate pulp stone prevalence in molars based on demographic factors and jaw involvement using CBCT in patients referred to Tabriz Faculty of Dentistry during 2015–2025.
Materials and Methods: In this retrospective study, CBCT images of 74 patients aged 20–60 years were evaluated by radiology and endodontics specialists. Pulp stone prevalence in first and second molars was determined and compared based on sex, age, tooth type, and jaw.
Results: Among 97 teeth with pulp stones, 53 (54.6%) were in females and 44 (45.4%) in males. The highest prevalence was in the 41–50 age group (31.3%). Statistical analysis showed no significant differences regarding sex (P=0.243), age (P=0.328), tooth type (P=0.468), or jaw (P=0.919).
Conclusion: Pulp stones are highly prevalent in molars but show no significant association with demographic or anatomical variables, appearing as an independent finding to be considered in endodontic treatment.
