Abstract
Introduction: As an autoimmune disease, myastheniagravis leads to muscle weakness with inefficient transmission of neuromuscular junction, and with symptoms of ptosis, diplopia, dysphagia, shortness of breath, it reduces the quality of life of patients and in severe cases can be life threatening. Considering the importance of quality of life the present study was reviewed and compiled.
Method :This research is of a descriptive type, after randomly selecting 95 patients and holding educational classes to raise awareness about this disease, information was collected through a demographic questionnaire that includes age, sex, education, marital status, and the sf36 questionnaire.
Findings: The average quality of life of patients was equal to 50.45 with a standard deviation of 17.87, which indicates that the mean quality of life of patients is at an average level. The lowest average in quality of life was in the dimension of physical performance with a mean of 23.37 and a standard deviation of 36.43, and the highest mean was in the dimension of general health with a mean of 55.63 and a standard deviation of 17.87.
Also, there was no statistically significant relationship between patients' quality of life and demographic characteristics (P<0.05).
Conclusion: the burden of the disease has a significant negative impact on the quality of life of patients with myastheniagravis, which has negative effects on many aspects of well-being, including physical, mental, social health, the importance of attention and planning is mandatory for these patients.
