Background: This research was conducted to determine the relationship between cognitive absorption, internet addiction, and job satisfaction with cyberloafing among Isfahan University staff of Medical Sciences.
Methods: This research was conducted using a descriptive correlational method among staff members of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, 250 of whom were selected by non-random sampling. To collect data from job satisfaction questionnaires (Minnesota Weis et al., 1976), cognitive absorption (Agarwal and Karahanna, 2000), Internet surfing (Askew, 2012), and Internet addiction (Yang, 1998) were used. Data analysis was done at two descriptive and inferential levels using SmartPLS-3 version 3.
Findings: The research findings showed a significant relationship between Internet addiction (r=0.156) and job satisfaction (r=-0.688) with cyberloafing, but no significant relationship was found between cognitive absorption and cyberloafing. Also, the results of the research showed that Internet addiction plays a mediating role in the relationship between cognitive absorption and cyberloafing.
Conclusion: Virtual space management at Isfahan University of Medical Sciences can be strengthened by improving job satisfaction and reducing internet addiction.
