Introduction: Dental anomalies are among the most common developmental disorders that may affect dental arch alignment, esthetics, and function. Identifying their prevalence and distribution patterns in the anterior maxilla is of particular importance due to the critical role of this region in esthetics as well as prosthetic and orthodontic treatments.
Materials and methods: This descriptive–analytical retrospective study was conducted on 200 patients referred to the Dental Radiology Clinic of Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences, Ahvaz, during 2022–2023. Data were obtained from CBCT scans acquired with a NewTom VGI unit and analyzed using NNT viewer software. Inclusion criteria were adequate image quality, available demographic information (age and sex), and full coverage of the anterior maxillary region. Patients with a history of midfacial trauma were excluded. The anomalies assessed included numerical, morphological–structural, and positional anomalies. Statistical analysis was performed using Chi-square and Mann–Whitney tests with a significance level of p<0.05.
Results: Among the 200 patients examined, 19% presented with dental anomalies. Based on the type of anomaly, 0.4% had numerical anomalies, 5.8% had morphologic or structural anomalies, and 5.6% had positional anomalies. The most common anomalies were canine impaction and lateral incisor agenesis. There was no significant difference betw
