Background:The present study aimed to determine the frequency of clinical and laboratory findings of patients died within 24 hours of admission to the emergency room of Alzahra hospital done in 2014-15.
Methods: In a cross sectional study, 138 patients who dead in the first 24 hours of enterance to Emergency department of Alzahra hospital were selected and demographic, clinical symptomscause and distance between enterance to emergency department and death were extracted and analyzed.
Resoults: The most common symptom, decreased level of consciousness with the frequency of 59 cases (42.8%) and the low prevalence of the mark, edema, and dizziness with an abundance of either 1 (0.7%), respectively. The most common initial diagnosis, cardiac arrest, respiratory frequency of 51 (37%) were cited. Stroke prevalence of 24 cases (17.4%) and sepsis second leading cause a lot of 17 cases (12.3%) was the third leading cause of death.
Conclusion: Based on the results of our study, the time between patient arrival to the emergency room to get first visit, age, underlying disease, the patient's admission to the emergency room less than a week and arrival times were an important factor in the mortality of the patients, and therefore it is necessary to reduce hospital mortality, necessary measures must be taken to provide timely treatment to the patients. On the other hand, because the majority of patients had a decreased level of consciousness, tending to patients with a decreased level of consciousness, can significantly reduce the mortality of patients in the emergency department.
