Introduction: Cadmium (Cd) is a heavy metal and has irreversible toxic effects on tissues, including kidney tissue. Although the favorable role of exercise and antioxidants in preventing kidney disorders has been reported, their simultaneous effect is not yet well understood. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of eight weeks of aerobic exercise (AT) combined with gallic acid (GA) consumption on caspase 3 and miR-21 changes in kidney tissue of rats exposed to Cd. Methods: 42 male Sprague-Dawley rats, aged 8-9 months and weighing 250-270 g, were randomly divided into healthy control (HC), Cd (mg/kg/day 5), Sham, Cd+GA, Cd+HIIT, and Cd+HIIT+GA groups. The supplement groups consumed 20 mg/kg GA dissolved in food and water flavoring daily. The exercise groups ran for eight weeks, three sessions per week, each session lasting 15 to 30 minutes at a speed of 15 meters per minute on a 15-degree slope. One-way ANOVA with Tukey's post hoc test and two-way ANOVA with Bonferroni's post hoc test were used to analyze the data.
