اثرات محافظتی عصاره‌ی سیر بر نفروپاتی دیابتی

چکیده
سردبیر محترم مجله‌ی دانشکده‌ی پزشکی اصفهاندر مطالعه‌ای که به تازگی توسط Shiju و همکاران انجام شده است و در مجله‌ی "Indian Journal of Pharmacology" به چاپ رسیده است، اثرات تجویز خوراکی عصاره‌ی سیر در محافظت از کلیه در رت‌های دیابتی‌شده به وسیله‌ی استرپتوزوتوسین بررسی گردیده است (1). در این مطالعه رت‌های دیابتی پس از مصرف مکمل عصاره‌ی سیر به مدت 12 هفته تحت مطالعه هیستوپاتولوژیک قرار گرفتند. در این مطالعه رت‌های دیابتی به طور معنی‌داری دارای سطح گلوکز خون، آلبومین، کراتینین، نیتروژن اوره‌ی خون و هموگلوبین گلیکوزیله بودند. علاوه بر آن سطح پروفایل چربی خون در رت‌های دیابتی به طور معنی‌داری تغییر یافته بود. در گروه رت‌هایی که با مکمل عصاره‌ی سیر درمان شده بودند این تغییرات به حالت متعادل برگشته بود...

Dear Editor-in-Chief,Diabetes causes significant changes in urine and serum constituents such as albumin, creatinine, urea nitrogen, and glycated hemoglobin. Garlic extract, however, has been shown to restore all of these biochemicals, and cause histopathological changes. Administration of garlic extract or metformin, or their combinations has also been demonstrated to have both curative and protective effects against gentamicin nephrotoxicity. These findings can potentiate the clinical use of combinations of metformin and garlic extract in the prevention of diabetic nephropathy.
