بررسی میزان شیوع هیپوتیروئیدی در افراد مبتلا به Multiple Sclerosis‏ ‏مراجعه کننده به بیمارستان الزهرای (س) اصفهان در سال 1392

چکیده
مقدمه: Multiple sclerosis MS)) و هیپوتیروئیدی (Hypothyroidism)، دو بیماری شایع در جامعه می‌باشد که برخی مطالعات همراهی بین این دو بیماری را مورد بررسی قرار داده و به این فرضیه دست یافته‌اند که شاید بین این دو بیماری ارتباطی وجود دارد، اما پژوهش‌های انجام گرفته در این زمینه کافی نیست. هدف از انجام تحقیق حاضر، تعیین میزان شیوع هیپوتیروئیدی در بیماران مبتلا به MS بود.روش‌ها: این پژوهش به صورت توصیفی- تحلیلی در بیمارستان الزهرای (س) اصفهان انجام شد. جامعه‌ی مورد مطالعه را بیماران مبتلا به MS که به کلینیک MS بیمارستان مذکور مراجعه کرده بودند، تشکیل داد. نمونه‌ها تحت آزمایش‌های تیروئیدی قرار گرفتند و شیوع هیپوتیروئیدی در آنان تعیین گردید.یافته‌ها: طی یک سال مطالعه، 726 بیمار مبتلا به MS مورد بررسی قرار گرفتند که دو نفر آن‌ها به علت اختلال به هیپرتیروئیدی، از مطالعه خارج شدند. از مجموع 724 بیمار، 586 نفر (9/80 درصد) زن و 138 نفر (1/19 درصد) مرد بودند. تعداد بیماران مبتلا به هیپوتیروئیدی، 50 نفر بود و بدین ترتیب، شیوع هیپوتیروئیدی 9/6 درصد برآورد گردید.نتیجه‌گیری: شیوع هیپوتیروئیدی در بیماران مبتلا به MS (9/6 درصد) نسبت به جامعه‌ی سالم (0/2 درصد) بیشتر است. بنابراین، لازم است بیماران مبتلا به MS از نظر ابتلا به اختلالات تیروئیدی مورد بررسی و درمان قرار گیرند و شاید درمان هیپوتیروئیدی، در نتیجه‌گیری درمان MS آنان نیز مؤثر باشد. ضمن این که توصیه می‌گردد مطالعات بیشتری در این زمینه انجام شود.

Background: Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Hypothyroidism are the two most common diseases in community and their co-morbidity were reported by some of studies and based on a hypothesis there is a relationship between MS and hypothyroidism. So the aim of this study was to determine the prevalence rate of hypothyroidism among patients with MS.Methods: In this cross sectional study, all patients with MS who referred to MS clinic of Alzahra hospital, Isfahan, Iran, were examined for thyroid hormones and prevalence of hypothyroidism was determined.Findings: In this study 726 patients with MS were studied and 2 patients suffered from hyper-thyroidism and were excluded. Of 724 patients with MS, 586 (70.9%) were female and 138 (19.1%) were male. The number of patients with hypothyroidism were 50 and prevalence of the hypothyroidism was 6.9%.Conclusion: Prevalence of hypothyroidism in patients with MS is higher than the general population (6.9% VS 2%). Thus, all patients with MS must be studied for thyroid disorders. Also more study must be done to determine of the relation between MS and hypothyroidism.
