Abstract
Introduction: Chlorhexidine mouthwash is very effective in the prevention and treatment of periodontal diseases and caries and is widely used. However, it causes discoloration of restorations, and these changes in them can disrupt the aesthetics of restorations; therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the effect of different concentrations of chlorhexidine mouthwash on discoloration of all-ceramic crowns with lithium disilicate base and indirect composite restorations.
Materials and Methods: In this in vitro study, 72 indirect composite samples (n=36) and lithium disilicate ceramic disks (n=36) were prepared in two groups A and B. The samples in groups A and B were randomly divided into three subgroups: control group (distilled water), 0.2% chlorhexidine mouthwash, and 0.12% chlorhexidine mouthwash. The color of the samples was measured and compared at 3 stages. Initially, the samples were placed in artificial saliva for 24 hours. Then, their color was initially measured using the CIELab system and a spectrophotometer and measuring the 3 parameters L, a, b; in the second stage, the samples were placed in solutions and their color was measured at three time intervals of 30 minutes, 6 hours,
